Back rail felt is utilized inside the piano to allow the back of the keys to rest upon. It offers a buffer to the key bed which acts as a sound absorber so you do not hear knocking.

The back rail felt also plays a factor in key dip by increasing or decreasing the thickness changes the dip slightly. This may come in handy if you need to change the dip without changing the action rail. The felt we sell is standard Rhodes thickness and will not change any current specs of your piano.
